Technical Bulletin 2-9/86Problem:Exposure lamp overheating and burning out prematurely in plate exposure units. Cause: 1. The cooling air flow is reduced by dirt accumulation on the fan blades and other cooling surfaces. Higher temperatures can cause a change in the light spectrum output of the bulb which can cause longer exposure times and a significant reduction in bulb life. 2. A dirty reflector or cover glass will cause reduced light output and result in longer exposure times. Longer exposure times in turn will cause higher temperatures and shortened bulb life. Correction: 1. Clean the cooling fan assembly and all cooling surfaces. 2. Ensure the reflector and cover glass or filter are clean. 3.Replace lamp mounting clips at each bulb change.
